COMMANDERIE DE BORDEAUX MEMBERSHIP
The Commanderie attracts a diverse and talented membership of oenophiles from across the United States and around the world. Many of our members have been enthusiastic advocates of Bordeaux wines for numerous years. Prospective members typically share a love for Bordeaux wines before they pursue membership, which is by invitation only and after being sponsored and co-sponsored by at least two members.
The Commanderie encourages prospective members who have a love of fine wines and especially Bordeaux, to explore membership opportunities.
Our National Leadership Team will likewise consider and work with individuals interested in establishing a new Commanderie chapter under the auspices of the Commanderie de Bordeaux aux États-Unis d'Amérique.
Our National Leadership Team is always pleased to work with prospective members in understanding their goals and objectives. If they live in a town or community that currently does not have a Commanderie chapter, creating a new chapter under the auspices of the Commanderie de Bordeaux aux États-Unis d'Amérique may be an option to explore.
Through their passion for Bordeaux wines, Commandeurs become emissaries of the Vignerons of Bordeaux and to their localities with the objective of broadening the appreciation of the wines of Bordeaux. Commandeurs have a unique opportunity to experience, a network of like-minded oenophiles who often become close friends from around the USA and the world.
Commanderie membership models vary considerably from one chapter to another. Most chapters have a membership ranging between 25 and 40 Commandeurs that is more often than not dictated by the size of the market. Large cities such as New York and Chicago have memberships approaching or exceeding 100 male and female members.
Commandeurs also enjoy fine wine and dining events that they may otherwise be unable to enjoy; often traveling extensively throughout the vineyards of Bordeaux savoring all that the appellation has to offer.

Global membership approximates 4,000 and Commanderies are located throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America.
The majority of our chapters have establish their own wine cellars, created over time by the membership through annual wine assessments, cellar initiation fees from new members or member donations. While cellar practices also vary by chapter, a percentage of a chapter’s annual wine purchases is typically invested in younger wines for the enjoyment of future members and, if necessary, on older wines that are ready for current use.
